What student does not like vacation? Especially the summer holidays - the longest, the most long-awaited and usually the most exciting! Almost 100 days of pure pleasure even if you are not able to , which you have long dreamed of. You can read a lot of interesting books, wake up , go to bed at any time, walk and play with your friends and go to the sea. What is just not offered by summer!
Какой школьник не любит каникулы? Особенно летние – самые долгие, самые долгожданные и как обычно, самые увлекательные! Почти 100 дней сплошного удовольствия, даже если тебе не удастся поехать в какое-нибудь поездку, о которой ты давно мечтал. Можно прочитать массу интересных книг, просыпаться позднее обычного, ложиться спать в любое время, поиграть с друзьями и съездить на море. Чего только не предлагает лето!
Если вам повезло куда-нибудь съездить и побывать в другой обстановке,- вы счастливчик! Но, в любом случае, летние каникулы всегда отличный способ отдохнуть от насыщенной школьной и внешкольной работы, жесткого расписания и больших нагрузок.
I always use summer holidays that I need for my future studies. I improve my English, read literature and some historical materials. This work brings benefit and pleasure: reading books and listening to English songs, watching documentaries and training your memory while memorizing some verses, English phrases or dates. I am glad that my mother has taught me to do it easily and without any nervous tension. If you treat this work as a game or an amusement you can enjoy a part of the summer and facilitate for your future busy learning season.
Я всегда использую лето для не напряженной работы над предметами, которые мне нужны для моей будущей учебы. Я изучаю английский, читаю литературу и историю. Такая работа приносит и пользу и удовольствие: почитать книги и послушать английские песни, посмотреть документальные фильмы и потренировать свою память заучиванием некоторых стихов, английских фраз или дат. Я рада, что моя мама научила меня делать это легко и без нервного напряжения. Если относиться к такой работе как к игре или развлечению, то можно отлично и с пользой провести часть лета и облегчить будущий напряженный сезон учебы.
This year my family and I spent ten days at the seaside in Odessa. It is a beautiful city on the coast of the Black Sea and there"s always plenty of entertainment and wonderful beaches. our relatives or in a hotel. This time we did not only beached, but also went on boat trips, visited a water park and went fishing. The weather in late June was hot and most of the time we spent near the water. In the evenings we went to a restaurant and walked along the famous promenade. Odessa is gorgeous in the evening.
В этом году мы с семьей провели 10 дней в Одессе, на море. Это прекрасный город на берегу Черного моря и там всегда масса развлечений и великолепных пляжей. Мы останавливаемся у родственников или в отеле. В этот раз мы не только проводили на пляже, но и ездили на прогулки на катере, посещали аквапарк, рыбачили. Погода в конце июня была жаркая и большую часть времени мы проводили у воды. Вечером ходили в рестораны и гуляли по знаменитой набережной. Одесса великолепна вечером.
In July I was in the country house with my grandparents. The terrain is very beautiful here: the lake, the fields, a lot of trees. The garden is planted with fruit trees, and there are a lot of vegetables. In the nearby village one can buy fresh milk and eggs. If there were the Internet and TV, it would be possible to spend the entire summer in the village. Unfortunately, the summer house is far from the city and we have to get there by train or a shuttle bus. To my shame, I could not do without all modern conveniences for a long time and my visit lasted not more than a week.
В июле я была на даче у бабушки и дедушки. Местность здесь очень красивая: озеро, поля, много деревьев. В саду растут фруктовые деревья, кусты малины и много овощей. В соседней деревне можно купить свежее молоко и яйца. Если бы там был интернет и телевизор, то можно было бы проводить все лето, как в деревне. К сожалению, дача далеко от города и добираться туда приходится на электричке или маршрутном автобусе. К своему стыду, я не могу долго обходиться без всех современных удобств и мой визит длился не более недели.
In late August our friends and the family made a trip to Bulgaria. It was a wonderful time. Several excursions to the small towns on the coast, a lot of delicious food and, of course, a beach holiday. We stayed in a magnificent hotel with its beautiful grounds, excellent cuisine and entertainment. I met a few guys from other countries and we had fun on the beach and in the evening. With some of them now I correspond and we plan to meet next year.
There are many national holidays in the world, when people all over the country do not work and have special celebrations. For example in Russia the major holidays are: New Year"s Day, Victory Day. The first holiday of the year is New Year"s Day. People see the new year in at midnight on the 31st of December. They greet the new year with champagne and listen to the Kremlin chimes beating 12 o"clock. There are lots of New Year traditions in Russia. In every home there is a New Year tree glittering with colored lights and decorations. Children always wait for Father Frost to come and give them a present. Many people consider New Year"s Day to be a family holiday. But the young prefer to have New Year parties of their own. The greatest national holiday in our country is Victory Day. On the 9lh of May, 1945, the Soviet Army and its allies completely defeated the German fascists and the Second World War ended. A lot of guests from different countries of the world came to Moscow to participate in the celebrations. There are fewer public holidays in Great Britain than in other European countries. They are: Christmas Day, New Year"s Day, Easter Monday, Spring Bank Holiday. Public holidays in Britain arc called bank holidays, because the banks as well as most of the offices and shops are closed. The most popular holiday is Christmas. Every year the people of Norway give the city of London a present. It"s a big Christmas tree and it stands in Trafalgar Square. Central streets are beautifully decorated. The fun starts the night before, on the 24th of December. Traditionally this is the day when people decorate their trees. Children hang stockings at the end of their beds, hoping that Father Christmas will come down the chimney during the night and fill them with toys and sweets. New Year"s Day is less popular in Britain than Christmas. But in Scotland, Hogmanay is the biggest festival of the year. Besides public holidays there are some special festivals in Great Britain. There are also smaller, local festivals in Britain. Now a few words about holidays in Brazil. The most important event in brazil - this a festival in Rio-de-Janeiro, which passes each year at the end of February the beginning of March. The festival lasts 4 days and 4 night. In Rio there are special schools, which train the people to dance Samba and Lambada. Each of these schools exposes on a holiday about 4000 dancers and 300 drummers. Other important event in Brazil in the year is ancient religious holiday MACUMBA, which is celebrated by Brazilian in the new year eve. During this holiday on sand of a beach KOPACABANA people place drinks and meal and light candles thirsted in sand. People in the midnight throw in the water their gifts and if ocean takes them, the year will be successful, but if it throws out on a coast, the year will not present. In the different countries according to their traditions and history, there is a set of various national holidays. But there is one thing, which unites all of them: a holiday is always fun and pleasure.Undoubtedly, all schoolchildren are so eagerly waiting for their holidays to come. In Russia school holidays, or as they are called school breaks, occur four times a year: in spring, in autumn, in winter and in summer. It is a brilliant opportunity to take some rest from your studies, to gather new strength and to revise the material learnt.
The summer vacation is the longest break in the school year. So, in Russia schoolchildren usually have 3 months break from school during summer. This starts in June and ends in the end of August. Summer vacations always revive the best memories in our mind. It is the time for travelling, fun and pleasure. People usually spend much time out in the open air as the weather is fine. Sometimes they leave town for the country and have a wonderful time there swimming, sunbathing and playing different games. Most people go to the seaside and recharge their energy for the whole year. As far as I am concerned, I like to catch beautiful sunsets at the beach, look at the stars and listen to the murmur of the sea waves. If I stay in Rostov, I meet my friends and we try to arrange something interesting. We often go to the movies and concerts, dine out at the open-air cafes and go roller-skating.
The autumn vacation usually lasts for a week. Schoolchildren usually spend most of their time at home because the weather is usually cold and rainy. They play computer games, watch TV, read books or listen to music. But if it is “Indian summer”, people enjoy warm and quiet weather. In this case one can walk in the park and admire the colorful beauty of autumn leaves.
The winter holidays are always much fun. Winter is a good time for skating, skiing and sledding. Children like to play snowballs or make a snowman. Besides, on the 31st of December Russian people see the old year out and see the New Year in. So, New Year’s Eve is a very busy time. People attack shops stuffing their bags with presents for their relatives and friends. All shops are nicely decorated with toys, tinsel and garlands, and everywhere you can feel the spirit of the holiday. As far as I am concerned, I usually celebrate this holiday with my family and friends. On the 1st of January we usually come to see our relatives. We sing karaoke and dance.
One of the most exciting times during the year is the spring vacation. It is the time when nature awakens from its long winter sleep and the snow begins to melt. First spring flowers such as snowdrops and tulips appear everywhere. Everybody enjoys the beginning of spring. People often go for walks in the park, have picnics or sit by the lake in order to enjoy the sunshine and the natural beauty of the world. Besides, spring is a good time to revise the material learnt and to prepare for exams.

Вне всяких сомнений, все школьники с нетерпением ждут наступления каникул. В России каникулы в школе бывают четыре раза в год: весной, осенью, зимой и летом. Каникулы – это отличная возможность отдохнуть от занятий, набраться новых сил и повторить пройденный учебный материал.
Летние каникулы – самый длительный перерыв в учебном году. В России школьники отдыхают от занятий в течение трех летних месяцев. Каникулы начинаются в июне и заканчиваются в конце августа. При упоминании о летних каникулах в памяти всегда всплывают лучшие воспоминания. Это время путешествий, веселья и удовольствия. Люди обычно проводят много времени на открытом воздухе, поскольку стоит отличная погода. Иногда они уезжают за город и отлично проводят там время, купаясь, загорая и играя в различные игры. Многие люди ездят летом на море и заряжаются положительной энергией на весь год. Что касается меня, мне нравится провожать закаты, сидя на берегу моря, смотреть на звезды и слушать шум прибоя. Если я остаюсь в Ростове, то мы встречаемся с друзьями и пытаемся организовать что-то интересное. Мы часто ходим в кино и на концерты, ужинаем в летних открытых кафе и катаемся на роликах.
Осенние каникулы длятся всего неделю. Школьники обычно проводят все свое время дома, потому что погода обычно холодная и дождливая. Они играют в компьютерные игры, смотрят телевизор, читают книги или слушают музыку. Правда, если это “бабье лето”, то все наслаждаются теплой и спокойной погодой. В этом случае можно погулять в парке и восхититься всеми красками осенней листвы.
Зимние каникулы всегда приносят массу удовольствия. Зима – это отличное время для катания на коньках, лыжах и санках. Детям нравится играть в снежки и лепить снеговиков. Кроме того, 31 декабря россияне провожают старый и встречают новый год. Канун Нового года – время суеты. Люди атакуют магазины, наполняя свои сумки множеством подарков для родственников и друзей. Все магазины красиво украшены игрушками, мишурой и гирляндами, а повсюду чувствуется дух праздника. Если говорить обо мне, то я обычно праздную этот праздник со своей семьей и друзьями. Первого января нового года мы обычно навещаем наших родственников. Мы поем в караоке и танцуем.
Весенние каникулы – один из самых захватывающих периодов в году. Это время, когда природа пробуждается от долгого зимнего сна и начинает таять снег. Повсюду появляются первые весенние цветы, такие как подснежники и тюльпаны. Все рады наступлению весны. Люди часто ходят на прогулки в парк, организовывают пикники или сидят у озера, наслаждаясь восходом солнца и естественной красотой мироздания.

I guess people all over the world like holidays. During celebration time people, as a rule, visit their friends and relatives, have parties and give and receive presents. Some of the holidays have its own customs and traditions.
Holidays in Great Britain
Unfortunately, I’ve never been to England, and my desire is to visit Great Britain during Christmas celebration. The atmosphere is wonderful: there are a lot of Christmas trees everywhere; houses are decorated with candles and toys.
Christmas is celebrated at the 25 th of December and is thought to be a family holiday. Children decorate their Christmas trees with lights, toys, candies, candles and looking forward to receive presents from a Santa Claus, who is believed to come down the chimney and leave gifts in children’s stockings. Both children and adults like this magnificent holiday!
Holidays in Russia
There are a lot of national holidays in Russia. I would like to tell you about Easter. So what are the symbols of this holiday? Firstly there are traditional dishes such as panted eggs, Easter cakes and paskha.
Speaking about specific Russian traditions there must be mentioned that people congratulate each other on the fest saying: “Christos Voskrese”, there is no such a tradition in English- or French-speaking countries.
My favourite holiday
My family like holidays very much because you can have fun all day long and don’t have to do anything. Our favorite holiday is a New Year’s Day. My family and I celebrate it together with relatives at the 31st of December.
Grandfather Frost and his granddaughter Snegurochka are thought to be the main characters of New Year in Russia. They deliver and give presents to small children.
At Christmas Day, together with my family we sing, dance and have fun.
Думаю, что все любят праздники, ведь в эти дни люди проводят время с близкими, устраивают вечеринки и обмениваются подарками. У многих праздников есть устоявшиеся традиции и обычаи.
Праздники в Великобритании
К сожалению, я никогда не был в Англии, но мне бы хотелось посетить эту страну во время Рождественских праздников. Рождественская атмосфера городов зачаровывает: повсюду наряженные рождественские елки, дома украшены огнями и игрушками.
В Англии Рождество празднуется 25 декабря и считается семейным праздником. Дети украшают елки гирляндами, игрушками, конфетами и свечками, и с нетерпением ожидают, когда Санта Клаус принесет им подарки. По легенде он спускается в дом через дымоход и оставляет подарки в рождественских чулках. Дети и взрослые любят этот замечательный праздник!
Праздники в России
В России много национальных праздников, но мне бы хотелось рассказать о Пасхе. Какие же символы у этого торжества? В первую очередь, на праздничный стол подают традиционные блюда: крашеные пасхальные яйца, пасхальные куличи и творожная пасха.
Следует упомянуть о традиционных именно для России обычаях, например, только русскоговорящие поздравляют друг друга словами «Христос Воскресе». В англоязычных или франкоговорящих странах такой традиции не существует.
Мой любимый праздник
Моя семья очень любит праздники, ведь можно целыми днями только и делать, что веселиться, и проводить время с родными и близкими. Наш любимый праздник – Новый Год. Моя семья празднует его с нашими родственниками 31 декабря.
Главными персонажами Новогоднего торжества являются Дед Мороз и его внучка Снегурочка. Они приносят и дарят подарки маленьким детям. В новогоднюю ночь мы с семьей поем, танцуем и веселимся.
Holidays
What is the best time for schoolchildren? Holidays, of course!
Autumn, winter, spring and definitely summer holidays. These are
the times when you can forget about homework, school and
teachers.
Usually autumn holidays are not very exciting. The weather is
getting worse, it"s raining and you don"t have much opportunity
to walk outside for a long time. During autumn holidays my
friends and I usually spend time at each other"s places playing
computer games.
Winter holidays are much more interesting! I like skating and my
family usually goes to the skating rink in a nearby park.
Sometimes my friends and I go outside the city to the ski lodge.
We rent skis and go cross-country skiing in the forest. Just
before the New Year"s Day a big fir tree is set in our park. It
is decorated with garlands and large toys. Ice hills are also
made in the park. I like going to the park with my younger
sister and my friends. At New Year"s night my family usually
goes outside. My father and I make a fireworks display. My
mother always says that it is dangerous, but we all know that
she likes our fireworks. We also congratulate everyone who we
meet with the New Year and they congratulate us back. I like it
that people are so kind during this holiday!
The longest term is behind and spring holidays come. It is
getting warm every day, streams are flowing in the streets. It
is fun, but you should be careful not to slip on the spring ice
and fall in a puddle! I walk with my friends, go to the cinema,
ride a bike or roller-skate.
At last summer has come! The books have been taken back to the
library, now other children will use them next year. Summer is
my favourite season. I can wear only a T-shirt, jeans or shorts
and light trainers or flip-flops. I have three months of rest
which I can devote to myself and to my friends. During the first
two weeks of summer holidays my family and I go to some resort.
We have already been to Turkey and Egypt and this year we are
going to Spain. We like sunbathing and swimming in the sea. I
wish we could do this all year round!
Then we go back to the city and my sister and I go to our
grandparents" country house. It is not worse than holidays at
the sea. Our country house is rather far from our city - about
two and a half hours by car. But it is worth going there anyway.
I take a bike and a games console with me. I meet my friends
there. I see some of them every day at school and I don"t see
others for the whole year, so I have an opportunity to meet them
again and catch up. We ride bikes, sunbathe on the river bank,
swim in the river and communicate with each other.
I wish holidays were all year round!
